Long ago on the continent of Fjora dragons reigned. The Great Dragon and his kin were the first of the races to claim Fjora as home. Wings beat mighty and graceful as they searched the land for a place to call home. The bogs were too dark, for that’s where the vile things of the night crawled and slithered. Their hides too hot for the warmth of the south and cool breeze of the water. But not for the snow caped mountains and the green valleys in the north. At the top of the tallest mountain far north, they laid claim. It was called Gods Ledge for that high up they could almost touch the stars and the Gods who painted them in the night sky.
But then the humans came. They were no friends like the Elves in the forests or the dwarves in the mines. The Great Dragon welcomed them with open arms, for some were special and had a dragon tongue. Those were the Dragon Lords, masters of Dracones the language of dragons. The Great Dragon invited the Dragon Lords to stay. They built the Fortress of Dawn together, a palace and city within the mountain side.
Soon dragons and humans were mixing, creating shifters and the most powerful of all, dragon shifters. Centuries of peace passed before the humans grew skeptical of the dragons north of them. So, they attacked.
And the dragons attacked back.
Some went rogue and began pillaging and sacking human cities, burning them to the ground. The Dragon Lords chose a side. They used their magic to control the dragons, bringing the mighty beasts to their knees. Forcing them to submit and obey. One such Lord being Lord Harrow of the south, one of the seven council members to oversee the human lands like kings.
Lord Harrow with his strength brought down nearly every rogue dragon. He was a hero to the humans, but a monster to those who called Gods Ledge home.
After pleading with a rouge Elven sorceress, to help save all their lands, they came to an agreement. Let the dragons and all the other magicals stay up north, create a barrier between the two lands. And never let one cross to the other.
But this bargain scared the other Kings and Queens. It wasn’t long before the South became of one kingdom united under the flag of the white stallion and the Lord who saved their lands. Even the one kingdom that didn’t submit, was eventually overtaken. Thus, the reign of humans began. And the era of mortal destruction.
